Blogging A-Z Challenge - Ambition

Welcome to the first day of April, the day we often "April Fools Day" because once it was the first day of the new year.  Those who forgot when the calendar changed were mocked as fools because they failed to remember the change.

For me, it's the first day participating in the Blogging A-Z Blog Hop! This is a huge blog hop with well over a thousand members when I signed up and probably still growing.  You can access the list of all the other bloggers participating here:

My first post to kick off April with the letter "A" is on ambition.

Every time I think of the word, I hear Dolly Parton singing "Nine To Five" with the line "Tumble out of bed and I stumble to the kitchen, pour myself a cup of ambition."  I like that - always have.

So what is ambition? Isn't it simply the desire to improve your status quo, to suceed and excell at this game of life? I think so.

If it weren't for ambition, I might still be an advertising copywriter at the local radio station instead of an author with thirteen novels and counting.  Or I might still weld together potato chip racks at a local factory (yes, I really did at one time) or de-bone chicken for giant Tyson Foods so y'all can have chicken potpie and such.

But I dreamed of doing something more, of moving on up (like The Jeffersons), and so I have.  And I'm far from finished....still drink my cup of ambition every morning.

If you'd like to hear the song to jump start your ambition, go here:

Come back tomorrow to read my thoughts on "Believe"!  And head over to the list of participants to read some more blog posts here:

Ambition is a great way to start this whole month of blogging! Great post, I love that you've been able to follow your passion and write instead of de-boning chickens. *lol*

Hey there, Found you via the A to Z challenge. Great 1st post coming from someone like yourself who has obviously done very well following their ambition. Great reference with the Dolly Pardon lyric. She is another ambitious person who has really gone far in life.
